Introducing Global Hospital & Research Centres
J. Watumull Global Hospital & Research Centre (GHRC) was established in 1991 to provide healthcare to people in rural Rajasthan. The hospital is managed and run by a charitable trust established and supported by members of the Brahma Kumaris.
J. Watumull Global Hospital & Research Centre stands out for offering modern medicine and traditional medicine systems under one roof, with an added touch: special focus on patient’s spiritual wellbeing. It is the only hospital in district Sirohi to offer multidisciplinary consultation in a wide range of specialties.
Patients needing to be hospitalised can choose from a variety of rooms. At present, 82 beds (out of 110) are functional, spaciously laid out in the general ward, twin-sharing rooms, single occupancy rooms, air-conditioned deluxe rooms and delux suites.
THE GLOBAL HOSPITAL & RESEARCH CENTRE trust operates and manages seven health units and two educational institutes outside of Mt Abu. Four of these are located at Abu Road, namely, G V Modi Rural Health Care Centre (a family health clinic), Global Hospital Institute of Ophthalmology (a dedicated eye hospital & its new wing called P C Parmar Foundation Global Hospital Eye Care Centre), Radha Mohan Mehrotra Global Hospital Trauma Centre (a multispecialty hospital specialising in trauma care) and Shivmani Geriatric Home (a facility for the elderly). Two nursing education initiatives namely, Global Hospital School of Nursing and Saroj Lal Mehrotra Global Nursing College also operate from Abu Road. The trust runs Brigadier Vora Clinic and Jyoti Bindu Diagnostic Centre, Vadodara, a general health centre, manages BSES Municipal General Hospital, Mumbai, a 100 bed multidisciplinary hospital and Shri Adinath Fateh Global Eye Hospital in Jalore a district place in Rajasthan.
Some of our service highlights include:
• Sees more than 100,000 outpatients per year;
• Treats over 7500 inpatients per year, 55% of which are treated free of cost;
• Conducts over 80 cataract screening camps in 3 districts resulting in over 3800 cataract surgeries EACH YEAR
• Carries out over 80,000 health consultations through the outreach (VOP)and mobile clinic (CSP)programs on doorsteps to over 60 villages.
• Performs over 300 surgeries to correct cleft lip and palate per year
• We have adopted 20 schools which benefits some 2500 students get daily nutritional supplement
Rotary International Global Hospital Blood Bank
Rotary International Global Hospital Blood Bank situated in Talhati, Abu Road is the only Regional Blood Transfusion Centre in Rajasthan in the non-governmental sector.Community Service Project
A mobile health consultation service for 56 villages in Abu Road,Pindwara and Reodar a population of about 150,000.Aim of this project is to plug a gap in existing health services. Two doctors offer health consultations while their attendants dispense medicines. They refer serious cases to Global Hospital.On an average every year 30000 patients are benefited from this program.
Tuberculosis Project
An initiative for the early detection of tuberculosis and improvement of patients’ nutritional status 46 field workers identify suspect tuberculosis patients from among 200,000 residents of 62 villages.Village Outreach Programme
A doorstep health service operating in 21 villages around Mt Abu.Aim of this project is to plug a gap in available health services
Nutritional Project
Students of public schools in 17 of the 21 adopted villages (under Village Outreach Programme) are served a milk-based snack and fruit during school hours.Aim of this program is to boost the nutritional status of school-going children in the adopted villages, to monitor their health status, to boost school attendance rates, to reduce drop-outs and to drive school enrolments.
The Smile Train
Cleft lip and cleft palate corrective surgery for children from poor families.Aim of this project is to enhance the quality of life of children born with a cleft lip and/or cleft palate, who hail from families that cannot afford corrective surgery.
Juvenile Patients Project
Aim of this project is to ensure that children receive timely health care for acute and chronic ailments.Free health consultation and treatment for children up to 16 years of age, hailing from poor families.Blindness Prevention
Free sight-restorative cataract surgery for the poor.Eye screening programmes are arranged to identify cataract patients, who are ferried to the hospitals for eye surgery and later escorted home.
This program is run under National Program of Control of Blindness, Government of India.
Around 100 cataract screening camps are organised every year in different locations and above 3000 cataract operations are performed free of cost.
Paediatric Ophthalmology
Sight-restorative surgery for children from poor families, eye checks for school students for the early addressal of ophthalmic ailments.Holistic Diabetes Care Program:
The Holistic Diabetes Care Program at GHRC is an attempt to understand & treat the underlying causes of illness rather than just treat symptoms. The holistic approach adopted at GHRC addresses the underlying feelings & emotions of the patient while treating the physical symptoms.Joint Replacement Facility:
Due to its high quality world class medical care at economical and affordable price, GHRC has attracted joint replacement patients not only from India but also from abroad.With an aim to treat “mind, body & soul” the hospital building itself is in a three sphere shape that represents DNA & RNA, linked to form a chromosome!
